How to sell digital products when Stripe isn't available
Updated 2026-10-20
You don't need Stripe, a US company or a foreign bank account to sell templates, e-books, courses or software from most countries. Here is the shortest path that works today.
1. Check your payout options first
Before you build anything, open the page for your country on this site and look at the payout column. If Lemon Squeezy lists bank payouts for your country, you can be paid straight to your local bank. If not, you will need a PayPal account that can receive money, or a different provider.
Create the account and finish identity verification before you spend time on the product. Verification can take a few days.
2. Prepare what reviewers look for
- A real product page with a clear description and price.
- A refund policy and a contact email.
- Your legal name and address as they appear on your ID and bank account.
3. Create the product and checkout
Upload your file or set up licence keys, choose the price in USD, and copy the checkout link. You can place that link on a simple landing page, a social profile or an email.
4. Test with a real purchase
Buy your own product once with a card, then refund it. This confirms the full flow — payment, email receipt, file delivery and refund — before real customers arrive.
5. Plan for the money arriving
- Payouts come in USD. Ask your bank how incoming foreign transfers are converted and what they charge.
- Keep a record of each payout statement for your tax return.
- Some countries apply exchange-control rules to foreign income. Check the local rules before your first payout, not after.
