What to do, by goal

Sell digital products

You can sell digital products from South Africa today, without a foreign company.

  1. Lemon Squeezy — Sells for you, handles tax, and pays out to your local bank.
  2. Stripe — Stripe's extended network (Paystack) can also take card payments locally.

Get paid by clients

In South Africa, freelancers usually get paid through a receiving account.

  1. Payoneer — Give clients and marketplaces receiving details in USD, EUR or GBP, then withdraw locally.
  2. Stripe — Card payments are possible through Stripe's extended network (Paystack).

Run a SaaS

For a SaaS in South Africa, a merchant of record is the fastest start.

  1. Paddle — Built for software subscriptions, open to sellers from most countries after review.
  2. Lemon Squeezy — A lighter alternative with no approval wait for small products.
  3. Stripe Atlas — Later, when revenue justifies yearly US company costs.
  4. Firstbase — An alternative to Stripe Atlas for forming that US company.
