How to get paid online in Morocco

Stripe isn't available for businesses in Morocco. Here is what works instead, depending on what you sell.

What's specific to Morocco

Currency: Moroccan dirham (MAD). Last updated 2026-10-20.

Morocco's foreign-exchange rules are set by the Office des Changes, and a new general instruction has applied since 1 January 2026.

  • The 2026 general instruction on exchange operations (IGOC 2026) took effect on 1 January 2026. Among other changes, holders of service contracts abroad can credit part of the repatriated amounts to foreign-currency or convertible-dirham accounts. Source: FNH — IGOC 2026
  • Exporters of goods and services are among those allowed to use foreign-currency accounts at Moroccan banks. The Office des Changes FAQ doesn't single out auto-entrepreneurs, so confirm with your bank how this applies to you. Source: Office des Changes — FAQ
  • Direct international wires to Moroccan banks often carry a fixed fee per transfer, which is why receiving accounts such as Payoneer are common for frequent, smaller payments. Source: Grey — receiving payments in Morocco
  • Auto-entrepreneur status is the usual way to declare foreign freelance income. Turnover ceilings apply, so keep records of every international payment. Source: Grey — receiving payments in Morocco

What to do, by goal

Sell digital products

You can sell digital products from Morocco today, without a foreign company.

  1. Lemon Squeezy — Sells for you, handles tax, and pays out to your local bank.
  2. Payoneer — Handy to receive and convert your payouts.

Get paid by clients

In Morocco, freelancers usually get paid through a receiving account.

  1. Payoneer — Give clients and marketplaces receiving details in USD, EUR or GBP, then withdraw locally.
  2. PayPal — Only if your account is allowed to receive and withdraw — check first.

Run a SaaS

For a SaaS in Morocco, a merchant of record is the fastest start.

  1. Paddle — Built for software subscriptions, open to sellers from most countries after review.
  2. Lemon Squeezy — A lighter alternative with no approval wait for small products.
  3. Stripe Atlas — Later, when revenue justifies yearly US company costs.
  4. Firstbase — An alternative to Stripe Atlas for forming that US company.
